The latest version of Vega Discover is now live, and with it comes the launch of several, highly sought-after features and functionality.
This release features direct links to the patron My Bookshelf tabs. Library staff will be able to configure a permanent hyperlink to any or all tabs of the patron Bookshelf, which includes:
- Checkouts
- Holds
- Fines-and-fees
- Profiles
This makes it easy for library staff to help patrons navigate their online account by giving them direct links to their Vega Discover Bookshelf. Staff can create a direct link to a patron My Bookshelf tab in Discover by adding the appropriate query parameters to their Discover URL.
Open Bookshelf to Checkouts Tab of Patron Account:
https://VEGA_BASE_URL/?openAccount=checkouts
Open Bookshelf to Holds Tab of Patron Account:
https://VEGA_BASE_URL/?openAccount=holds
Open Bookshelf to Fines Tab of Patron Account:

Open Bookshelf to Profile Tab of Patron Account:

If a patron is already logged in, they will be taken directly to Discover with the Bookshelf expanded, and the specific tab selected. Patrons logged into Discover will remain authenticated for 90 days or until they manually log out. Guest sessions will also last 90 days when using the main Discover URL.
If a patron is not logged into Discover, they will be directed to the Discover login page (CAS or Vega Login Modal). After authentication, the patron will be directed to Discover with the Bookshelf expanded, and the specified tab selected.
Note that library staff who are authenticated to the admin view of Discover will be prompted to log out of the admin view if they attempt to use a patron link. This action will break the redirect, and they will not be redirected to the patron account in question.
