Account Portal rolled out globally in February 2026, followed by the Account Linking feature becoming available in March 2026, delivering a more intuitive, powerful, and secure account management experience for patrons. This release marks a major step forward in simplifying how users access and interact with their library information, whether they’re managing their own activity or overseeing linked accounts within their household. With a streamlined interface and a centralized dashboard, patrons will find it simpler and safer than ever to stay fully in control of their library activity.
How can your library configure the Account Portal?
Libraries don’t need to take any additional steps. Patrons can use a new view in Vega Discover to manage booklists and saved searches, with an easy link to the Account Portal for full management of their account. This replaces the previous My Bookshelf experience with an updated experience without workflow disruptions.
A redesigned experience built for today’s library patrons
Patrons can now easily link multiple library accounts, making it simple for parents, guardians, and caregivers to switch between minor and adult profiles. With dedicated 1-way and 2-way permission levels, households and guardians can manage checkouts and holds without juggling multiple logins. My Recommendations page features curated booklists and upcoming Vega-generated reading recommendations.
How can your library configure Account Linking?
Admins can choose when their library is ready to turn Account Linking on and customize how a minor is determined for single libraries or consortia member library collection sites. Account Portal prioritizes clarity and ease of use – key needs for today’s public library communities. Patrons will benefit from faster navigation, improved accessibility, and consistent experience across devices.
What’s coming next?
Additional improvements planned for the Account Portal will further strengthen patron engagement and workflows, both in Vega Discover and other products:
- Integrations across the Vega LX Suite to create a seamless experience for patrons and staff
- Patrons who manage other linked accounts will gain access to place holds and check out digital content for their managed accounts
- Additional features will be added to make account management easier, such as bulk updating contact info across accounts
These enhancements support the broader vision of a unified Vega LX ecosystem.
