Emeryville, Calif.— Innovative Interfaces, a leading global provider of library automation software, today announced four academic institutions have switched to Sierra as their Integrated Library System (ILS) over competitor alternatives. Throughout the United States, the new Innovative library partners include:
- City Colleges of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois
- Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho
- Prairie View A & M University in Prairie View, Texas
- Wingate University in Wingate, North Carolina
All four Sierra adopters previously used an Ex Libris ILS.
“Sierra is a market-leading product for the academic user community, and these libraries recognized the investments we’ve made over the last two years provide a better experience, and an opportunity to utilize unparalleled new features and differentiators,” said Innovative CEO Jim Tallman. “These library partners are now strategically positioned to transition to our next-generation platform this year, which will offer a broader range of library service platform options than previously offered by any vendor in the market.”
A forward-looking vision and evolving technology were key reasons libraries chose Sierra. Library partners also cited Sierra’s feature-rich offerings, the Encore Discovery solution’s capability to seamlessly integrate with the EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS), and competitive solution pricing as important factors in the selection process.
“We are very pleased with the choice we made in Sierra,” said Karl Bridges, Dean University Librarian at Idaho State University’s Eli M. Oboler Library. “It enables us to make great enhancements. This is a solution that will allow us to grow and develop creative ways to build better experiences for our students, faculty and researchers.”
Amee H. Odom, Director of the Library at Wingate University agreed.
“We always consider the impact on our student experience in everything we do here at Wingate,” said Odom. “We not only needed a solution that would easily work well for all our campus constituents, but one that would enable us to deliver on that important end user goal. Sierra was clearly that system.”
