When plans change: managing multiple holds in Vega Discover

Library holds do not always line up neatly with a patron’s schedule. Travel, a busy week or simply changing plans can mean several requested items suddenly need attention at the same time.

Managing those changes should not become another task in itself.

With Batch Hold Actions in Vega Discover, signed-in patrons can manage multiple holds together from the Account Portal. They can choose the holds they want to update, or select all of them, then take the appropriate action without working through each title separately.

Give patrons more control over their holds

Someone heading away for a few weeks may want to pause several holds rather than risk having them become available while they are gone. Another patron may decide they no longer need a group of requested titles.

Batch Hold Actions gives patrons a simpler way to handle those situations. Selected holds can be frozen, unfrozen or cancelled in a single action, rather than updating each title one by one, giving patrons more control over their requests.

Managing several holds becomes a simpler task with fewer steps. When circumstances change, patrons can adjust their holds quickly and get back to what they were doing.

For libraries, making routine account management easier can also mean fewer small tasks that need staff assistance. Patrons have another way to manage their own activity while still using the same Vega Discover experience they already know.

Small improvements to everyday interactions can make a noticeable difference. Batch Hold Actions helps make one of those interactions simpler when patrons have more than one hold to manage.
