How Workflow Consulting Works
Depending on the needs of your library, we’ll assign a consultant to visit your location to examine your current workflows, audit the performance of your ILS system, identify opportunities for improvement, and suggest changes to increase efficiency.
Preparation
To ensure your session is productive, your consultant will contact you in advance to discuss where you want to enhance your patron’s experience and gain efficiencies, such as holds, technical services, circulation/Web OPAC, collection development, reporting, or circulation. This will help you and your consultant identify areas of focus for your assessment.
Analysis
Your consultant will conduct an expert analysis of your library’s current operations and system performance. The analysis will cover:
- Goals, priorities, and needs
- Workflows, processes, and procedures
- Settings, configuration, and common use cases of your ILS
- System audit across several key performance metrics
Discussion
Three weeks after an analysis of your current workflows, you and your consultant will review a detailed report of findings and recommendations. Discussion points may include:
- Workflow improvements
- System configuration changes
- Recommended product functionality, such as statistics gathering, reporting, and database analysis
