Polaris Release 6.6 Adds Circulation and Serials Functionality to Leap Web Application
EMERYVILLE, Calif. August 17, 2020 – Innovative, a ProQuest company and leading global provider of library software, has launched the Polaris Release 6.6 featuring print notices processing and serials check in for the Polaris Leap web application and a new, optional data privacy feature for the PowerPAC.
In Polaris 6.6, library staff will now be able to generate and post circulation notices directly from Leap. Previously, circulation staff completed most of their daily workflows in Leap but still used the staff client to post notification details to patron accounts. Innovative added print notices in Leap based on customer feedback to enable circulation staff to work freely in Leap from anywhere without returning to the Polaris client to complete daily operations.
The serials check in functionality marks the first serials-based feature in Leap. With periodicals arriving daily at many branches, the addition of serials check in means less toggling between Leap and the staff client and more flexibility for the check-in process. Instead of being tied to a workstation, serials check in can now be conducted from a tablet as issues are shelved, and it’s easier for staff, pages, or volunteers to manage the check ins.
“Our circulation staff uses Polaris Leap for everything except these two processes: circulation notices and checking in serials,” said Katie LeBlanc, System Administrator at Clinton-Macomb Public Library in Clinton Township, Michigan. “Being able to print and post notices in Leap would bring us one more step closer to cutting the cord with the staff client.”
Other features in Polaris 6.6 include an optional cookie acceptance prompt for PowerPAC. This prompt will only display when enabled in System Administration and supports different thresholds for in-house and external workstations. Additionally, based on customer feedback, Polaris 6.6 includes the ability to perform duplicate detection on the new name on identification fields.
“Polaris is a market leader with loyal customers and we’re very excited about the features we’ll be delivering to them over the coming releases,” said Yariv Kursh, General Manager of Innovative. “We are committed to continually developing Polaris and completing the full client functionality within Leap.”
