Innovative™, part of Clarivate™, is pleased to announce that the Milton Public Library in Ontario, Canada, has selected the Polaris ILS paired with Vega Discover to replace their current Sierra and Encore systems.
The Milton Public Library (MPL) serves the roughly 133,000 residents of the town of Milton, Ontario with three branches. In addition to a wide collection of physical and digital materials that include books, graphic novels, music, magazines, and video games, MPL has unique resources like the Medicine Learning Garden, funded by a grant to indigenize MPL’s collection, which grows pollinator-friendly, native species of plants known by indigenous people to be effective medicine. The library also hosts beehives that produce honey that can be purchased throughout the year by visitors to each of MPL’s branches. MPL also provides access to the Héritage project of archival collections of Canadian history, a silent study room, 3D printing, a library of things, used battery and water testing drop-offs, and more. MPL programs include summer reading clubs for all ages, social services, story times, seniors socials, coding workshops for kids, Pokémon card clubs, a knitting circle, board games, and, in Summer 2024, the opportunity to watch the Olympic games.
