Innovative, part of Clarivate, announced today the Vega Discover expansion to support over a dozen professionally translated dialects spanning over six languages. Adding local languages and dialects encourages positive interactions with the library and its discovery system, by increasing accessibility and usability for a wider audience.
Vega Discover now provides professionally translated default language files for Spanish (US), Spanish (ES), Catalan (ES), French (FR), and French (CA). Additional translations in progress and planned to be released shortly are Simplified Chinese in Chinese (CN) and Chinese (TW), and Māori (MI). Duplicate files for English have also been introduced to support local English-language dialects in United States (US), Canada (CA), United Kingdom (UK), Australia (AU), and New Zealand (NZ).
Ongoing system translation updates and modifications are planned to respond to library feedback and requests. In parallel, institutions can manually edit specific items to best fit their individual library needs. Innovative will also consider introducing further languages or dialects upon request from institutions to best support their patrons.
This expansion of language coverage is part of ongoing development for Vega Discover, our modern and accessible discovery layer, as it continues to support librarians by supplying easy-to-use automated workflows resulting in better access to materials for patrons. As part of the Vega Library Experience (LX) platform, it enables library staff to easily communicate and manage a full range of materials, programs, and services.
