A growing number of public libraries across Australia and New Zealand are finding strength in community, and that community is now joined by Randwick City Library, Shorelink Library, and City of Moreton Bay, all selecting the Polaris library management system (LMS) and Vega LX from Clarivate.
Randwick City Library was first to go live with Polaris and a full Vega Library Experience suite implementation to follow. Shorelink Library consortia and City of Moreton Bay Libraries are also preparing for their move to both Polaris and Vega LX. They each represent very different communities, from a three-council library service in Sydney’s eastern suburbs to one of the country’s largest public library services.
Different libraries, different needs
Comprised of three libraries in Maroubra, Randwick and Matraville, Randwick City Library serves a community that has been supported by the library network for more than 70 years.
Shorelink Libraries is home to a network that brings together Lane Cove, Mosman and North Sydney councils, with one membership providing access to six library locations. Polaris will support the shared management of collections, circulation and customer services, while Vega LX will provide a consistent and unified digital experience across the network. Each council can continue serving its local community within a coordinated library service.
City of Moreton Bay Libraries support nearly 500,000 residents across urban, rural and coastal communities through its 10 branches and mobile library service north of Brisbane. The library selected Polaris alongside Vega Discover Premium, Vega Promote, Vega Program, Vega Mobile and Vega Interact SMS — supporting daily staff work and helping customers find collections, learn about programs and stay in touch with the library.
Trusted by libraries across the region
These new customers join a growing community of libraries already benefiting from Clarivate public library solutions, local support and expertise, and responsive customer care.
Polaris users include: Shellharbour City Libraries, Newcastle City Public Library, Central Coast Council Libraries and Clutha District Libraries in New Zealand. Sutherland Shire Libraries, an early Australian adopter of Vega LX, and the large Auckland libraries in New Zealand are both long-standing members of the Sierra user community. Together, libraries on both sides of the Tasman have more opportunities to learn from one another as they modernize library services, make staff workflows more efficient, and create better experiences for their communities.
